Affairs in Versailles, aka Si Versailles m’etait conte (Sacha Guitry, 1954). Big all-star history of Versailles, with Guitry’s fondness for wry narration stringing the witty anecdotes together. Guitry plays Louis XVI, and Orson Welles is Ben Franklin. Most U.S. videos of Guitry’s films (including Versailles) are so poor they make the quality of the movies themselves almost impossible to judge, but this one, at least, is brimming with worldly drollery.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua (Raja Gosnell, 2008). “Yes, we shake. But not for the amusement of humans.” (full review 10/3)
