But even the opportunistic, folksy anti-hero of that movie had nothing on the sheer cold-bloodedness of Sarah Palin’s political instincts, which are as sharp and as smart as anybody has displayed in U.S. politics in decades. Liberals need to drop the chortling Dan Quayle comparisons and realize this is a formidable opponent; her crude message is incredibly appealing to the 40 per cent of the country that always votes Right–and they’re excited. She won the night. But please watch A Face in the Crowd.
