What We Do is Secret (Rodger Grossman, 2007). The story of punk heroes The Germs–but I can’t help thinking that if you’ve seen The Glenn Miller Story, you’ve already seen it. (full review 10/10)
City of Ember (Gil Kenan, 2008). At least it didn’t cost as much as The Golden Compass. (full review 10/10)
Cafe Metropole (Edward H. Griffith, 1937). Grinding comedy in Paris, with only the crack professionalism of Adophe Menjou surviving unscathed. Ty Power and Loretta Young both look like things that haven’t quite formed yet, but photogenic nonetheless, which isn’t enough to provide life support.
