Movie Diary 6/9/2009

talhotblond (Barbara Schroeder, 2009). Interesting documentary about a weird case of Internet flirtation and multiple levels of deception, which resulted in death. A gaffe on my part: I went into this thinking it had been directed by Barbet Schroeder, due to a misreading of the directing credit (there are hundreds of movies in SIFF; give me a break). So when it comes on and it’s narrated in the voice of a dead man, I figured the movie was linking itself back to Barbet Schroeder’s Reversal of Fortune, which had a similar daring device. But just forget the whole thing, because this is made by Barbara Schroeder. I look forward to seeing Barbet Schroeder’s Inju, The Beast in the Shadow, later this week. The festival is almost over.
