I Love You, Beth Cooper (Chris Columbus, 2009). The graduation-night genre rendered generically, as Columbus goes for that Adventures in Babysitting mojo that everybody’s been clamoring for. (full review 7/10)
Germany, Year Zero (Roberto Rossellini, 1948). Shooting in the rubble of Berlin after the war, Rossellini picks up sad little fable-like stories in a film that seems to be making itself up on the spot, fumbling a little in the sheer urgency of catching history with total immediacy. But catching it nonetheless.
