A Perfect Getaway (David Twohy, 2009). Twohy renews one’s faith in the art of B-moviemaking, even if nobody actually makes B-movies anymore – here comes an ingenious/absurd idea worked out to within an inch of its life. He should be cranking out a project every six months. And he would if I had my way. (full review 8/7)

The Burning Plain (Guillermo Arriaga, 2008). Fairly linear for Arriaga, even if the story does roll out in three or so different timeframes. It’s extremely serious. (full review 9/25)
