Movie Diary 12/8/2009

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (Rebecca Miller, 2009). I must say this movie was a lot more enjoyable than I was expecting, and Robin Wright Penn comes up with a few eerie moments, the kind of thing only a grown-up actress can deliver. The movie’s crowded with good people and shot through with humor, which helps the cause too. (full review 12/18)

Nine (Rob Marshall, 2009). All in the family: Rebecca Miller’s man, Daniel Day-Lewis, takes the central role in this Broadway musical of a Fellini classic. It’s also crowded with good people – just plain crowded, in fact. (full review 12/25)
