Movie Diary 2/10/2011

Just Go with It (Dennis Dugan, 2011). Dugan’s still a mess when it comes to deciding where to put the camera to photograph people, but he must deserve some credit, I guess, for the rubbery looseness of scenes that allow Sandler and Aniston and the gang to create warm, knockabout comic energy within scenes. In other words, amidst the bathroom gags and pratfalls, something human comes out. (full review 2/11)

Barney’s Version (Richard J. Lewis, 2010). All right, fine, giving Paul Giamatti a tour-de-force role is probably enough of a reason to make a movie. (full review 2/18)
