The Werckmeister Harmonies (Bela Tarr, 2000). For all of Tarr’s assuming a role in the vanguard of the last 20 years, it’s also possible to observe that much in this film has the familiar (and not unpleasant) sense of the old-school European arthouse picture.

Seconds Apart (Antonio Negret, 2011). No surprise that director Negret has come off this direct-to-DVD horror picture for a couple of bigger projects; it has a look, for sure. The story is the old one about twins, evil and creepy.

At What a Feeling!, the vintage 1980s reviews continue to peel off, with looks at The Hitcher and Hamburger…The Motion Picture.
