Movie Diary 1/12/2012

Haywire (Steven Soderbergh, 2012). Mixed Martial Arts fighter Gina Carano stars in a spy-action movie. Perhaps this can be accused of being one of Soderbergh’s dabblings. I approve. (full review 1/20)

Elgar (Ken Russell, 1962) and The Debussy Film (Ken Russell, 1965). A pair of Russell composer biographies, the first one original and witty and stirring, the latter godawful pretentious foolishness. It must have been exciting to see this stuff the first time around on British TV, though.

At What a Feeling!, we graze across vintage 1980s reviews of Jim Kouf’s Disorganized Crime and Joe Roth’s Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise. I am so, so sorry.
