Movie Diary 4/16/2012

The Lucky One (Scott Hicks, 2012). Hicks and Sparks: sentimental director-author combo or vaudevillian jug-band duo? Oh, how I wish it were the latter. (full review 4/20)

Out of the Past (Jacques Tourneur, 1947). Quintessential noir matter, with Bob Mitchum reclining his way through one of his best roles and Jane Greer leading him on. And when it comes right down to it, “everything else was just a stone you sail to the sea.”

At What a Feeling!, the Eighties come to horrifying life again with a vintage review of Bud Smith’s Johnny Be Good, from 1988.
