Breaking Flat (Weekly Links)

Michael Sheen, Volturi Style, TSBDP2.

Links to reviews I wrote this week for the Herald, upcoming events, and etc.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. “Livelier than the previous few outings.”

The Flat. “How much do people really want to know about themselves?”

Bestiaire. “Allows us to observe.”

A holiday movie preview thingie.

No appearance on KUOW this week, due to a presidential press conference.

Join the talkers of Framing Pictures for another conversation tonight at 5 p.m. at the Northwest Film Forum. We’ll look at various cinematic representations of one A. Lincoln, the NWFF’s run of Bestiaire, and some talk of Leos Carax’s Holy Motors. The event is free, with beer and wine available for purchase. Check the Framing Pictures Facebook page, too.

Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m., join me for “End of the Trail: How the Western Movie Rode Into the Sunset,” a free talk in the Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau program.  I’m at the Woodinville library (directions here).

At What a Feeling!, catch up with vintage reviews of 1980s films as we look back at Steve Miner’s Soul Man and John Milius’s Red Dawn.
