About Time (Richard Curtis, 2013). It still takes Curtis two hours to do romantic comedy, although this one falls short of the Love Actually marathon. And it’s got a sci-fi premise, so that helps. (full review 11/1)

Haute Cuisine (Christian Vincent, 2012). Vincent once made that wonderful film La Discrète, and little else since has made it to these shores. You can see why this one would – it’s cute, but not icky. Catherine Frot plays the personal chef to the French president. Challenge: How to write a review that does not fall into food-related metaphors? (full review 10/4)
