Movie Diary 1/7/2014

Freaks (Tod Browning, 1932). I have written a longer piece about this movie and posted on this site, so I’ll just say the film does not lose anything through the years. Lots of filmmakers try to find a mysterious spot between fiction and documentary, but Browning, with his real sideshow artists, actually gets there. And that spot is very, very eerie.
