Movie Diary 5/1/2014

The Godfather (Francis Ford Coppola, 1972). One thing the movie truly has is a musical sense – its pulse, its lilt, is almost never off. Coppola’s touch tends to be right on the nail-head, but maybe that’s what you do with gangsters.

Young and Beautiful (François Ozon, 2013). Not much doubt about who’s directing this one. Ozon’s feeling for trouble in a household is still precise. (full review 5/9)
