Tuesday Oct. 20 at 5:30 I’ll be at the Renton History Museum to present “Alien Encounters: Sci-Fi Movies and the Cold War Culture of the 1950s,” a look at how flying saucer films reflected the anxieties of the atomic age. The talk is free with regular museum admission; more info here.
Saturday Oct. 24 at 2 pm I’ll be at Bellevue Library to present “Before Ultron: Artificial Intelligence in the Movies,” a look at the most memorable manifestations of A.I. in film history, from the malfunctioning HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey to the perfect companion in Her.
