Saturday Nov. 14 at 1 pm I’ll be at Mercer Island Library to present “Before Ultron: Artificial Intelligence in the Movies,” a look at the most memorable manifestations of A.I. in film history, from the malfunctioning HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey to the perfect companion in Her. The talk is free; more info here.

Monday Nov. 16, 7 p.m., the talkers in Framing Pictures will re-convene for a conversation at Scarecrow Video. What will we talk about? Some heady mix of the cinematic old and new; keep tuned and we’ll update.
