Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

Links to my reviews published this week in the Herald and Seattle Weekly, and etc.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. “Reminds us of why Collins’ dystopian trilogy caught fire in the first place.”

By the Sea. “Although it takes some misguided turns in the final going, it’s a pretty cool movie until then.”

Brooklyn. “Makes a virtue of simplicity.”

Entertainment. “So uncompromising it barely makes a nod in the direction of entertainment.” (In case of Herald paywall, Weekly link here.)

Saturday Nov. 21 at 2 pm I’ll be at Carnation Library to present “Before Ultron: Artificial Intelligence in the Movies,” a look at the most memorable manifestations of A.I. in film history, from the malfunctioning HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey to the perfect companion in Her. The talk is free; more info here.

Steve Scher and I talk about movies at the Overlook Podcast; a new episode goes live today. Check in here.
