Movie Diary 3/1/2016

London Has Fallen (Babak Najafi, 2016). This time, it’s British. Gerard Butler is still irritated, and Aaron Eckhart is still president, and an unnamed ISIS-like group is loose. Fast and brutal. Probably made before the ascendancy of Donald Trump, but seemingly tooled for the mood of the nation. (full review 3/4)

Zootopia (Byron Howard and Rich Moore/co-director Jared Bush, 2016). A second-tier Disney animation feature, with a handful of funny scenes. Excellent sloth work. Kudos to veteran voice actor Maurice LaMarche, who makes an extended Brando/Godfather bit (this is 2016, right? The kids are gonna plotz) and actually makes it funny. (full review 3/4)
