Movie Diary 3/28/2016

I Saw the Light (Marc Abraham, 2015). A biopic about Hank Williams, which makes me suspect that somebody has forgotten about George Hamilton in Your Cheatin’ Heart. Or possibly everybody. Anyway, this is Tom Hiddleston (good) in the role, with Elizabeth Olsen (better than good) as his wife, Audrey. No actual Hank on the soundtrack, alas. (full review 4/1)

Green Room (Jeremy Saulnier, 2016). The guy who made Blue Ruin. Just in case you thought that movie was a fluke – nope. (full review 4/22)

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (Fritz Lang, 1956). A re-visit after many years. Not prime Lang, but it has its moments, and so does Dana Andrews. A different movie when you know what the ending is, too.
