Goodbye Christopher Robin (Simon Curtis, 2017). About how A.A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) wrote his son into a series of children’s books, and the unexpected consequences that followed when the Winnie the Pooh stories became a phenomenon. The movie doesn’t sidestep the more facile tendencies of the literary biopic, and it’s not shy about leaning on the tweed-and-pipe-tobacco aspects of the British division of that subgenre, but it’s smarter and less cozy than many such things.
