Movie Diary 10/31/2017

Call Me by Your Name (Luca Guadagnino, 2017). Not sure how good this guy’s movies are, but he certainly creates deluxe places to hang out. An incredibly confident, new-movie-star performance by Timothée Chalamet anchors this James Ivory-scripted tale of young love during a summer at a Italian villa in 1983. Armie Hammer gives his best-yet performance, nailing the voice and body language of a self-assured American dude. (full review 12/22)
