Movie Diary 4/3/2019

Pet Sematary (Kevin Kölsch, Dennis Widmyer, 2019). We’re in this weird realm where bad movies can look and sound really cool; this one, for instance, has a bunch of evocative shots that recall the dry-ice-in-a-graveyard vibe of early-60s Corman, and the aural attack is impressive. All that technical skill – plus they got talented people like Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz to go along with this. Anyway, the film is grim, that’s for sure, and it doesn’t stint on a fundamental terror of children. (full review 45)
