Movie Diary 6/5/2019

The Dead Don’t Die (Jim Jarmusch, 2019). All-star cast in Jarmusch’s zombie picture, which has a few puzzling (or seemingly lazy) elements but which serves up enough beautifully-timed deadpan jokes to justify itself. Even in this impressive cast, Tilda Swinton manages to distinguish herself, brandishing a long sword and a Scots accent. (full review 6/12)

Citizen Kane (Orson Welles, 1941). Along with everything else going on in it, this is a movie that rarely fails to seem timely. Gets sadder every time you see it, too.
