Drugstore Cowboy (Gus Van Sant, 1989). A movie that plays by its own rules, a 1950s sitcom filtered through 70s druglife, a portrait of how belief systems operate and provide the illusion of control to chaos. Is this movie really 30 years old?
Spider-Man: Far From Home (Jon Watts, 2019). A European trip, complete with the usual distractions of romance and giant monsters, the romance being much more interesting than the monsters. (full review 7/1)
The Road Warrior (George Miller, 1981). “Emil Minty as the Feral Kid,” probably still the greatest credit ever. Watched it on TV for the first time, which is not the way to do it, but it remains a zany action classic.
