Movie Diary 9/9/2019

The Goldfinch (John Crowley, 2019). The adaptation of Donna Tartt’s bestseller goes for Fincheresque clean lines and deadpan storytelling, which may be necessary given the preposterous plot. The actors are stupefied. (full review 9/12)

Groundhog Day (Harold Ramis, 1993). A re-visit. It holds up. It sort of sounds obvious given the concept, but the film really does do ingenious things with how we experience time in movies.
