Movie Diary 7/19/2020

Dr. Strangelove (Stanley Kubrick, 1964). Forgot to jot this one down last week, a movie for class. You may be interested to learn that this is a very funny movie. Nerves of ice. The portrait of the world as the playpen for arrested-adolescent boys playing out their sexual insecurities has, shall we say, aged well.

The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek (Preston Sturges, 1944). Hadn’t seen it in many years. It is more frantic than I remembered. Indelible aspect: the long-take walks through the small town, the life of the place expressed by the people in the background, sitting on porches at night or waiting to go to the movies.
