Movie Diary 7/29/2020

Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets (Bill Ross IV, Turner Ross, 2020). An unusual object: The last day and night of a tavern, celebrated by a group of regulars, and played by a collection of people who seem authentically down and out (but who are clearly acting, too, with a couple of experienced actors among them – I think). It’s dense with atmosphere and personality, maybe a little heavy on the boozy sentimentality of a previous era. (full review 7/30)
