Movie Diary 10/14/2020

Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock, 1960). This Saturday is Virtual International Independent Video Store Day, and instead of having people come into the store this year, the non-profit Scarecrow Video is holding a “telethon” with various attractions during the day. My contribution is a Zoom presentation, “60 Years of Psycho: How a Hitchcock Classic Stayed Alive,” which looks at the movie and its reverberations through our culture: the Van Sant mastercopy, the sequels and ripoffs, the homages, the parodies. Check the site at Scarecrow for more details about how to watch the talk, which is illustrated with film clips.
