Movie Diary 8/8/2021

Phase IV (Saul Bass, 1974). Watched this a couple of nights ago, then woke up this morning to find ants gathered around a dead spider on the kitchen floor. Massed and feasting. Had I stepped on the spider in the dark the night before, and the ants wasted no time in finding it? Or had they tracked the spider, surrounded it, and taken it down? Is this the beginning of Phase I? In any case: The movie is just what it is, a collection of insect photography and large computing machines amassed in the foolish hope of defeating nature. With Michael Murphy, Nigel Davenport, and future Mrs. Peter Sellers Lynne Frederick.
