Hassan Madjooni, Amin Simiar: Hit the Road (Kino Lorber)

My piece for the Scarecrow blog this week, and etc.

Hit the Road/Everything Everywhere All at Once. “Like a film of youth, bubbling with a spirit of play and invention you want to see in a debut picture, while on the other hand it radiates moviemaking confidence, sure-footedness, wisdom.”/”I found myself resisting the greeting-card conclusions.”

I’ll be giving my Humanities Washington talk, “This Is the End: How Movies Prepared Us for the Apocalypse,” in person at the Grand Cinema in Tacoma, on Wednesday May 11 at 7 pm. Check out the info here, and see you in the City of Destiny.

Join us for the final installment of this semester’s Scarecrow Academy course, “The Art in Sci-Fi: Science Fiction and the Director,” on Saturday (5/7) at 2 pm Pacific Time. In this free online session, we’ll have a conversation about Jonathan Glazer’s 2013 film Under the Skin. Come join us, and listen to me go on about it below.

No new episode of “The Music and the Movies” this week, but we did repeat the one on Quincy Jones, so you’ll want to hear that. See the M&M page at Voice of Vashon (even if the Q episode has expired – music rights and all – something will be archived there).
