And if you’re in the Seattle area, please join us at 7:30 for tonight’s “Critics Wrap” at the Frye Art Museum. Jim Emerson, Kathleen Murphy, Andrew Wright and I will offer our top tens of 2008 — and listen to yours. More info here.

On the Seattle Channel, I talk with Nancy Guppy about Great Speeches and the DVD re-release of Chungking Express. And no, I am not hungover; I have a cold.  A little make-up works wonders. Watch it here.

Movie Diary 12/2/2008

Punisher: War Zone (Lexi Alexander, 2008), and Cadillac Records (Darnell Martin, 2008). Interesting day when a skull-cleaving action picture and a blues-music biopic arrive, both directed by women but without much fuss made about it. And there’s a glut of strong male performers in both pictures, especially Cadillac, which offers up roles to Eamonn Walker and Columbus Short that will not be denied even in the presence of typically great stuff from Jeffrey Wright and Mos Def.
