Movie Diary 4/4/2012

Mildred Pierce (Michael Curtiz, 1945). A fierce movie fronted by Joan Crawford at her, you know, most, as a noirish murder gets wrapped up in a tale of making it in America. The men around Mildred are certainly a sorry lot; she looks most at home drinking bourbon with Eve Arden.

Footnote (Joseph Cedar, 2011). One of the Oscar nominees in foreign film this year (from Israel), with an initially droll but eventually grave look at a rivalry both academic and familial. (full review 4/6)

At What a Feeling!, we review one of the first knock-offs in the Dirty Dancing aftermath: Salsa, a Cannon Group production.
