Movie Diary 3/26/2012

Headhunters (Morten Tyldum, 2011). Unadulterated Norwegian popcorn, and a movie people will have a lot of fun with. (full review 4/11)

The Sound of My Voice (Zal Batmanglij, 2011). Indie number: is a trance-inducing charismatic (played by co-writer Brit Marling, a memorable part of Another Earth) really from the future, or just the fraud she seems to be? Probably you’ll be willing to stick around to find out. (full review 4/4)

Of Time and the City (Terence Davies, 2007). I hadn’t seen Davies’ documentary nod to Liverpool during the early years of Betty and Phil (that would be Queen Elizabeth and her husband, to us), and it comes as no surprise that it feels like another Terence Davies movie, but with newsreel footage. He knows how to make films.

At What a Feeling!, the Eighties are brought back with a week’s worth of British films from the high Thatcher years. Including: David Hare’s Wetherby, and Michael Radford’s 1984.
