Lea Seydoux, Melvil Poupaud: One Fine Morning (Sony Pictures Classics)

My piece for the Scarecrow blog this week, and etc.

One Fine Morning. “This is the grace of Hansen-Løve’s films, their dance between casualness and rapt attention, calibrated without an ounce of phoniness.”

New episode of “The Music and the Movies” this week: I play soundtrack stuff from film adaptations of the work of John le Carre. Listen at the Voice of Vashon website.

Tomorrow, Saturday 4/3, we begin a new free online season of Scarecrow Academy, this time devoted to “Women in Trouble: Great Melodrama in Film.” We gather via Zoom on Saturday afternoons at 2 pm Pacific Time, and I lead a lecture/discussion about that week’s film. First up is William Wyler’s The Letter (1940), starring Bette Davis. Sign up and see more info here.
